Privacy policy

We take data protection seriously. We process your personal data (hereinafter referred to as “data”) in accordance with the legal requirements and aim at making this procedure transparent. That is why we provide this brief explanation on how we protect the data in connection with the use of our website, and for which purposes and on which legal basis this takes place. You will also receive information about contact persons and your rights in connection with data processing.

PURPOSE AND LEGAL BASES OF DATA PROCESSING

1) Visiting the website

As soon as you visit our website, we save so-called log files. These log files record your IP address, the date and time of access, the URL called up, the referrer URL, the browser you are using and its version, as well as the version of the operating system you are using. We use this data to prevent misuse of our website and to enable a smooth and optimal visit to our research network. The legal basis for this processing is Art 3(1), No 1 GDPR in conjunction with Art 6(1,1,e) of GDPR.

2) Membership in the group and publication of the data provided

If you wish to become a member of the network, please enter the data listed below in the electronic form provided on the website irish-english.net. One or more members of the Steering Committee will then decide based on your publication list and your message in the input mask if you meet the admission criteria. The data you enter on our website irish-english.net will be published on admission into the network. The following data are processed:

– First & last name (mandatory entry)

– institutional affiliation (mandatory entry)

– telephone number (optional entry)

– email address (mandatory entry)

– primary research interests within Irish English (optional entry)

– publication list (mandatory)

Only the data provided will be published. However, if you do not provide any information in the mandatory fields, you cannot be included in the research group. The legal basis for this data processing is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1, a) of GDPR. We will also notify you separately by e-mail about your inclusion in the network.

3) Newsletter

In as far you agree to wishing to receive our newsletter, we will inform you in our e-mail newsletter about the research area Irish English (publications, conferences, announcements of positions & scholarships, related resources, e.g. internet links, corpora). You will only receive the newsletter if you have agreed to it. We will request that you confirm your consent separately by e-mail. The legal basis for this data processing is Art. 6(1, a) of GDPR.

4) Contact

If you agree to the procedure when subscribing to our newsletter, we may contact you about matters relating to Irish English. For this purpose, we use the following data, which we store in our database: first & last name, institutional affiliation, telephone number and e-mail address. The legal basis for this data processing is your consent according to Art. 6(1, a) GDPR.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Even if you do not exercise the rights set out below, we will only store your data for as long as is necessary for the above-mentioned purposes. This does not apply if the law prescribes a longer retention period which deviates from this, or if a longer storage or retention period is prescribed by law or requires law enforcement within the statutory limitation periods. If data is only stored for the aforementioned purposes, access to the data is limited to just the extent necessary.

As a basic principle, we keep your data to ourselves and only make them available to those employees who need them to work within the scope of their tasks. This does not apply if we are legally obliged to pass on such data.

We would like to inform you that the provision of your data is neither required by law nor by contract. There are no negative consequences of not providing your data.

There is no automated decision-making including profiling within the meaning of Art 22(1 and 4) of GDPR.

YOUR RIGHT TO REVOKE YOUR DECLARATION OF CONSENT

Insofar as we process your data on the basis of consent, you have the right to revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. This does not affect the lawfulness of the processing that took place on the basis of your consent up to the revocation. The declaration of revocation can be made informally and does not require any justification. Revoking your consent does not involve any negative repercussions.

YOUR RIGHT TO OBJECT ACCORDING TO ART 21 OF GDPR

Insofar as we process your data according to Art. 6(1, e) of GDPR for the performance of tasks carried out in the public interest, you have the right to object to the processing of personal data relating to you at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.

In this case, we will no longer process this data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims.

YOUR FURTHER RIGHTS

You have the right to request information from us about the processing of data concerning you. In addition to a copy of the data, this right to information also includes the purposes of the data processing, the data recipients and the storage period.

Should we have processed incorrect data, you can demand from us that we immediately correct this data. If the legal requirements according to Art 17 or 18 GDPR are met, you also have the fundamental right to immediate deletion or restriction of the processing of the data. Please note that under certain circumstances, it may not be possible to limit the processing of certain data.
